What you'll need:
  • An ice cube tray (Trays with cool shapes add extra fun! They can be found at Walmart or even the 99 Cents store!)
  • About two pints, (Give or take) of your favorite juice. (This ingredient is entirely up to you and your family's tastes. Use sugar free juice for a healthy snack, Use breakfast juices such as Orange Juice or apple Juice for a cool start to the day, Even use lemonade for a sour treat!)
  • Shrink wrap
  • Popsicle sticks or tooth-picks. (You can use different colored Popsicle sticks, Available at your local craft store, to customize your cubes!)  *Toothpicks have been found to work best, but feel free to try Popsicle sticks or other items.*
Steps:
  1. Take your juice and pour slowly into the ice cube tray until each cube, (or shape,) is half-way full.
  2. Carefully place a layer of shrink wrap over the tray. Kids, let a parent or adult help you with this.
  3. Next, poke the Toothpicks through the shrink wrap in each cube, making sure the stick touches the bottom.
  4. Let them freeze for about 30 minutes to an hour. Suggest to your children to play outside while it freezes. When they're done, they'll have a frosty treat to enjoy!
This recipe is easy, fast, and fun! They make great party favors or for just around the house. They are also great at breakfast time! So have fun, and Enjoy!

9-11: Decades later

Today, 10 years ago, many people gave their lives to save many more. Many, many acts of kindness, courage, and bravery were shown throughout. When two hijacked planes whammed into the Twin Towers, anarchy broke out. Many severely injured, and many, many more dead. But, thanks to the bravery of hundreds of firefighters, about 20,000 were saved. The beloved buildings collapsed, killing many more.
This is not the end of the 9-11 story though. A third plane was hijacked too. It was turned completely off course and hit the Pentagon. More civilians were injured and killed.
And, as if this were not bad enough, yet another plane was hijacked, Flight 93, and was said to be headed for the State Capitol Building or even the White House! The passengers, however, were not about to let this happen. All 33 passengers stormed the cockpit and took over. Instead of hitting the important buildings, the plane crashed into a field in Pennsylvania. Many good people were killed.
Let us all remember what bravery and courage they had!
God bless all those who lost their lives and the firefighters too! May we all remember their bravery!

Super Science!

Did you know that a certain plant can kill Mosquitoes, Mosquito larvae, and the Anopheles mosquito that caries Malaria? Yep! It's true! According to Indian scientist from India's capital, New Delhi, Padma Vasudevan, the Mentha piperita plant* is a great "Repellent."  How did they discover this? Well, they first took oil from the Mentha piperita plant and poured it on top of water that contained mosquito larvae. when they came back the next day, they found that the larvae were dead.
Many people decided to test this theory, so what they would do is they would take oil from the Mentha piperita plant, rub it on their body and slept outside. 8 out of the 10 people said they did not get one bite! Wow! Who knew that peppermint could be so useful!
And that's today's Super Science!

* Mentha piperita is the Latin name for thought. It is also the botanical name for Peppermint!
